The world is aging rapidly. People over 65 represent 12.3% of the world’s population, and by 2050 this number will increase to 22%. Life expectancy is increasing through better nutrition, hygiene, health, education and economic wellbeing.
The aging of the population presents major social and economic challenges, an adequate set of policies can help individuals, families and societies to meet these challenges and take advantage of their benefits.
The government offers grants and social services in a reactive way to those in need who request it and meet the requirements. But there are a lot of older people who do not know how to access the aids, some who do not know they exist or, simply, do not use them because they are in very difficult situations to deal with.
Thanks to Big Data and predictive tools we analyze multiple data sources to proactively identify situations of all kinds of vulnerability.
This early identification will be beneficial to the areas of action of social services, to foresee emergency situations, such as fuel poverty and the need for home care and improve citizen quality of life.
We will transform social services, from a palliative approach to a preventive approach.
Thanks to Big Data we will change the world.
